These beers were made for summer

MONDAY 06/27/2016

Heat waves, cook outs, fireworks… all signs that summer is finally here. We’ve got a cooler full of summertime staples and surprises to keep you quenched throughout the thirstiest season.

The summertime staple: citrus-y Wheat Beers.

If Oberon is your go-to summer beer, shake things up with Short’s Nicie, Arcadia Whitsun, or Arbor Bollywood Blonde.

The thirst quencher: salty/tart Goses.

Try the Briney Melon Gose from Anderson Valley or Sierra Nevada Otra Vez for an updated take on this old fashioned German beer style.

The mower beer: American Pale Ales and Lagers.

Looking to crush a few cans while tackling the yard work? Ballast Point’s Grunion Pale Ale should do the trick. Prefer Lagers? Try anything from the Wolverine State Brewing lineup.

The poolside sipper: Belgian-style Witbiers and Wheats.

With a light, fluffy body and characteristic tartness, Axle Wit, Avery Liliko’i Kepolo and Bell’s Poolside Ale are all refreshing options. All of ’em come in cans; perfect for trips to the beach or the trails.
